October marks the fifth anniversary of Fi3 Financial Advisors, and we want to thank our valued clients, colleagues and friends for their support on our journey. We are proud of the work our firm has provided to clients over the past five years and the relationships we have developed.
We enjoy connecting successful people to one another. We believe these connections generate new opportunities for our clients and our community. Five years ago, Fi3 worked with five families. Today, we have expanded our connections, and now help more than 50 multi-generational families as their Family Chief Financial Officer. We have grown our business in a measured way, selectively inviting new families to partner with Fi3. And, illustrating our success in this approach, we feel blessed and fortunate to have increased the assets we advise on by more than 20 times.
Different by Design
When we started Fi3 in 2013, we set out to do something different. We designed our firm so that we could be the expert sounding board for a family’s financial decision-making. In fact, we serve our clients by acting as a fiduciary, and as their Family CFO. We established Fi3 as a fee-only firm, so that we could build a business based on expert advice. We are not beholden to any products, services, or specific investments.
We further built Fi3 on the foundation of the types of clients we serve: innovators; independents; and integrators. Innovators are executives, business owners and entrepreneurs who are bringing new ideas to their fields and are actively creating wealth. Independents are families who have achieved financial independence and want actionable advice to protect and preserve it. Integrators are families whose wealth extends to multiple generations, and who have a focus on integrating family and community legacy. We are proud to work with these clients, who are leaders in their industries and their communities.
Anticipating Demand for Family Office Services
This spring, we launched The Fi3 Family Office in anticipation of a growing need among our clients and prospective clients. Our Family Office clients seek to provide for the legacy of future generations and must educate their heirs to become prudent stewards. They seek our help with transitioning the family leadership. And, they want high-performing teams and up-to-the minute advice on issues that affect their portfolios and overarching family goals.
Our CPAs and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioners understand the language of business as well as recognize family dynamics. We collaborate with our clients’ other professional advisors to implement each family’s unique plan. Integrating wealth planning, investment consulting, and family leadership leads to a comprehensive approach that serves a single purpose: help families articulate and achieve the things most important to them.
Supporting our Community
We are also proud of the community work Fi3 has been a part of over the past five years. Our team members serve in leadership roles with local nonprofit organizations, including the Central Indiana Community Foundation, the Indianapolis Children’s Museum, the Indiana Children’s Wish Fund, the Penrod Society, and the Center for the Performing Arts.
We also recently sponsored WFYI’s “Listen Up” event in May, in which Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck and author John Green discussed the impact of books in their lives as a part of PBS’ The Great American Read.
As proud as we are of the past five years, we know the next five years – and beyond – will be even better as we bring new opportunities to clients and deliver an unparalleled client experience through enhanced technology. Thank you to our clients, colleagues, and friends for your continued support of Fi3. We look forward to continuing to grow with you and serving as your Family CFO for many decades into the future.
